Willie Lee Luckett, Jr. was born on March 4, 1947, in Memphis, TN to the late Willie Lee Luckett, Sr. and the late Mary Frances Saddler Luckett. He was the third child of their union. His father later joined the late Emma Boone, extending the family with additional siblings. In addition to his parents, Willie was proceeded in death by brothers; Sylvester Carl Luckett, Robert Edward Luckett, and Minister Marvin Dale Luckett, Sr.; sister, Rev. Mary Edith Johnson; daughter, Lessa Williams; and grandson, Isaiah Luckett. Shortly after his passing, his youngest brother, Charles Luckett, also passed.

In his early years, Willie lived around Little Rock, AR and Memphis, TN. He later moved to Drew, MS where he met and married Willie Ann Mickey. They both became members of the New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop T. T. Scott. His membership and commitment to Christ continued under subsequent leaders until his demise.

Willie was a man with strong family ties and love for humanity. He was a person who kept his family grounded in depending on God's unwavering word. With his wife, Willie Ann, he raised his children, two sisters, and a sister-in-law. He was a pillar of strength for his family and provided immeasurable wisdom and knowledge to his children and grandchildren-wisdom and knowledge that will forever remain etched in their hearts.

After having served many years as a teacher, transportation driver, deacon, and a member of the Board of Trustees, Willie became an ordained minister and was later elevated to Elder in the Church of God in Christ. Not only did Elder Luckett teach and preach the word of God, he LIVED the word. He was the head of his home (Ephesians 5:23), a humanitarian (Matthews 25:36-40), a faithful servant (Matthews 25:14-30, Revelations 2:10), a willing worker (Ecclesiastes 9:10), and a man of compassion (Ephesians 4:32) bearing the fruits of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) until his dying days. Though he never acquired the office of a bishop, he was the husband of one wife (1 Timothy 3:2-5).

During his final days, Elder Luckett continually stated he wanted to go home. On November 4, 2025, God in his infinite wisdom welcomed him home to a place free of pain, sickness, and disease where joy, peace, and rest are everlasting.

Elder Willie Lee Luckett, Jr. leaves to cherish his legacy and memories: his wife, Missionary Willie Ann Luckett; five children: Anthony Joel (Kimberly) Luckett of Warwick, RI, Linda Barnett-Luckett-Thigpen of Greenville, MS, Jacqueline Denise Luckett of Drew, MS, Michael Oneal (Patricia) Luckett of Drew, MS, and James Alan (Tiffany) Luckett of Memphis, TN; one brother, Wilbur Boone; five sisters: Willy Francine Brokenbrough, Joann (Leon) Sanders, Edwina Ann Luckett, Regina Garner, and Laverne Thomas;  a special brother-in-law, Pastor Samuel Johnson, Sr.; fourteen grandchildren; Alexander Jones, Nickolaus Luckett, Darius Luckett, Michael Luckett, Jr., Jacquelynn Luckett, Jartavius Thigpen, Malik Luckett, D'Angelo Luckett, Braden Luckett, Bailey Luckett, Ava Luckett, Melody Luckett, Jocelyn Luckett, and Jailynn Luckett; nine great-grandchildren: TaNya Luckett, Tristan Luckett, Timothy Luckett, Tehari Moore, Londynn Thigpen, Michael Conner, Brynlee Thigpen, Baylee Thigpen, and Jaelynn; two god-children: Jeffrey Coleman and Alice Queen; the New Jerusalem COGIC family, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
