Willie B. Clerk- Smith was born March 28,1943 to the late L.T. and Willie Mae Clerk in Itta Bena, MS. She was the second of 17 children.
Willie be confessed Christ at the tender age of 13, at which time she was baptized in what was then, known as the "Bayou.'" She attended Popular Grove Baptist Church under the late Reverend Howard. Some years later she would join the Noah's Ark Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Dr. Emmitt Gates, Sr. in 1978. Willie B. surrender her life to God in 1996 under the leadership of the late Ronald Simpkins, where she served as the first president of the Pastor's Aide Ministry. She also served as the first president of the newly organize Voices of Freewheel Choir. Willie B. was a faithful member of the Sunday School, Bible Study and Prayer Meeting. Upon her returning to her hometown of Boyle, MS in 2002, she joined the Greater Macedonia Community Church under the leadership of Bishop Herman Clerk. Willie B's journey ending at Phillips Chapel M.B. Church under the leadership of Reverend Marvin Strotter, Sr. of Cleveland, MS, where she was a faithful member and Mother of the church.
Willie B. received her education in the Bolivar County School District in Cleveland, MS. She met her husband, William M. Smith in 1960, who preceded her in death in Cleveland, MS. to this union four children was born: Dennis Smith, who preceded her in death; Teresa Smith, Sandy Moody, and Jacqueline Hartridge. Willie B. later relocated to Jamaica, N.Y. in 1966 where she worked as a Live in Care Giver. Willie B, also known as "Babysister" or as the family called her "Baysau', also worked many years as a " Bar Maid' where she was affectionately called "Mississippi". She later met Albert Brown, and to this union three children was born: Albert, Stacy, and Tenzie Smith.
Proceeding her in dearth are her parents: L.T. and Willie Mae Clerk, her husband, William M. Smith son; Dennis Smith, 2 grandchildren, 6 brothers, and 9 sisters.
Willie B. lived a life of love surrounded by family and friends and the love of God in her life. She answered the call of that still small voice on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 9;15a.m. at Bolivar Medical Center.
Willie B. departed this life to eternity knowing she would be remembered by so many loved ones. She leaves to cherish her life: 7 children: Teresa Smith, Sandy Moody, Jacqueline Hartridge (Larry), Albert Smith, Stacy Smith, Tenzie Smith, and Raheeem Smith. 16 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, 7 sisters, 5 bothers, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
