Obituary

Walter Lee Ervin was born June 6, 1965 to Joseph and Mattie Ervin.  He was raised in a loving and accepting home, surrounded by his mother, stepfather Jimmie Fox, Sr., siblings, nieces, and nephews.  Though he had special needs, there was never a sense of limitation placed on his life.  He was encouraged, supported, and believed in wholeheartedly.  Gifted with talents that often surpassed what many others could do, he showed everyone around him that there was nothing he could not achieve when surrounded by love.  Walter's family thanks God for the time he blessed us with his unique ways.  He was baptized at an early age at Antioch MB Church under the late Rev. P.K. Knox.

Walter earned his Certificate of Completion from the Greenville Public School District.  Following certification, he proudly worked on the packaging and assembling line with the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services for 30 years.  Faithful and dependable, Walter could often be seen walking to work with his lunchbox each weekday along Highway 1 North - a quiet testament to his strong work ethic, independence and commitment.

Around the Carver Community, he was affectionately known as "Bondo" and spent most of his life helping friends, neighbors and maintenance workers at Northland Village Apartments with odd jobs.  "Bondo" was loved and protected by many.

For most of the last four years, he resided at Cleveland Nursing and Rehabilitation where his helpful ways continued with the staff, earning him the nickname, "The Postman."

He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather, Jimmie Fox, Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memory, three sisters; Betty Redmond and Mary Smith both of Greenville, MS and Johnnie Mae Redmond of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; three brothers, James Sanders and Victor Ervin, both of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Patrick (Teresa) Ervin of Greenville, Mississippi and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
