Wallace Smith, Jr. was born on August 26, 1950 in Symonds, Mississippi to the late Ruby Lee Lewis and Wallace Smith.  As the oldest of seven children, he was a natural leader from the start, setting an example for his siblings:  Patricia, Roosevelt, Loretha (Sally), Darlene, John, Oscar, and Arthur.

Wallace was known for his unwavering hard work and profound devotion to his family, often guiding them toward stability and prosperity.  His character was marked by a witty honesty and a will to travel, which led him to a fulfilling career as a travel contractor.  His life took a joyful turn with his relationship to Hattie, with whom he welcomed three sons, Leonard, James and Andre Smith.

Seeking new horizons for his family, Wallace moved from Chicago to Sacramento, California.  It was there that he began cultivating a deep, personal understanding of God, becoming a devoted Christian and a faithful deacon for 15 years.  Wallace continued to pour into his family and community through constant efforts of mutual support and encouragement.  He had an unique gift for empowering others, teaching them to be pillars in their own lives so they could, in turn, learn how to show up for others.

His love for his family continues to transcend.  He was, and remains, the father figure in our family-the rock who protected and nurtured us all.  His life was a testament to the strength of love that Jesus Christ instills in his followers.  To love is to understand, and Wallace's life and legacy are a testament to just that.

After a life richly lived, Wallace Smith Jr., 76, was welcomed into his eternal home on November 14, 2025.  He is preceded in death by his parents Ruby Lewis and Wallace Smith, Sr, his sisters Sally, Darlene, Patricia and his brother Roosevelt.

He leaves to cherish his memory his brothers, John (Shell), Oscar (Judy), and Arthur; five beautiful sisters on his fraternal side; two maternal aunts; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who love him deeply.
