Obituary

Velma Wilson, affectionately known as "Teenie", entered this life on February 2, 1939, in Shaw, Mississippi. She was the third child, a twin, of six children born to the Late Willie Frank "W.F." and Anna McKnight Wilson. Teenie received her formal educational experiences from within the Bolivar County Public Schools in the rural communities of Merigold and Mound Bayou. She later met and married Robert Darden. To this union, three children were born. On October 15, 1958, Teenie relocated to Miami, Florida, with her children and obtained employment with Coral Gables Laundry and as a Home Health Aide. She later met and married Ernest Clarington and to this union four children were born. Teenie received Christ at a very early age while in Mississippi. After relocating to Miami, she became a member of St. John Holiness Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Willie Leonard and later, New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Rufus Grant. After relocating back home to Shaw, Mississippi, she joined the Stranger's Home Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Herron Wilson, where she served faithfully on the Mother's Board for several years. Teenie was certainly a very funny, loving and caring person. She loved her children and truly adored her grandchildren. She tried her best to teach them to be self-sufficient and take care of each other. Family and close friends always looked forward to Teenie visiting in Miami and would come to sit with Teenie and Tula to listen to them tell stories that were sure to cause much laughter throughout the house; family gatherings, both in Mississippi and in Miami, were "Golden". Teenie was what we call a "Master Chef" in the kitchen. We would always be awakened by the great smell of her delectable homemade dressing and other dishes she would prepare by the pan loads for the holidays for family and close friends to share. She would literally stay up all night cooking. Teenie enjoyed working in her garden and tending to her beautiful roses; "do not run over those rose bushes"! We are grateful to God for allowing Teenie to be able to visit family in Miami this past Christmas and New Years, where everyone was home for the holidays. We never thought you were coming home to say "bye-bye" but God knew you were getting weary and worn. On Monday, January 26, 2015, Velma Wilson Breedlove made her transition from this earthly life in exchange for immortality.
