Tenneye Rochelle Simpson Thornton was born on December 16, 1961 to Lizzie Mae Simpson in Cleveland, MS. She was preceded in death by her grandson Zabian Simpson, grandmother, Missionary Viola Simpson, brother, Ricky Simpson, and a special cousin that she helped raise, Tyesha Simpson.
Rochelle repented of her sins and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ at a very young age. She was a member of the Apostolic Faith Church where she was known for witty personality and and love for the Bible. She loved to test the knowledge of the church members by creating quizzed in her spare time. She always inquisitive about the Bible and enjoyed asking her pastor about scriptures. Even in her home, you could find pieces of paper where she would writ down verses to remind her of the goodness of God. In addition to her love for the Bible, she enjoyed cross-stitching.
During her last two months of her life, Rochelle told her family that she wanted to fight, but we didn't understand that she was fighting to gain eternal life. On February 12, she slept into eternity with her of 31 years by her side.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband Leamon Thornton; her daughter, Tamekia (Jack) Prater of Cleveland, MS; her son, Michael Pierre (Angela) Thomas of Walls, MS; her mother, Lizzie (Terry) Jones of Cleveland, MS; three sisters: Wanda Fonville of Denver, CO; Gayla (Hamad) Tayeh of Cleveland, MS; and Tara (Cedell) Brownlee of Cordova, TN; eight grandsons, one of which she raised from a child, Kierre "Dowanky" Jordan, Tristian, Jacques, Jyden, Kacey, Aden, and Mason; one great grandson, Zyair; three brother in laws: Lester (Jody) Thornton, Leonard Thornton, and L.T. Thornton, Jr.; one sister in law, Willie Mae (Carl) Hardy; godsisters: Shirley ( Melvin) Montgomery and LaShonda McKinney, the Apostolic Faith Church Family and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
