Shonda Shavet Mitchell was born in Greenville, MS on January 1, 1971 to Vallie Scott Mitchell and Frank Hollins, Sr.  She was the youngest of three children.

Shonda was always considered her mother's "miracle boy".  Doctors said she would not live past the age of six because she had meningitis at the age of two years old.  God was and still is real.  He took care of Shonda for nearly 54 years.

Shonda confessed her hope in Christ and accepted Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age at Mt. Cora MB Church, Metcalfe under the leadership of Rev. LC Adley.

She attended Special Education classes throughout the Greenville Public School District.  With a very memorable and outgoing personality, Shonda never met a stranger.  Anyone who met Shonda never forgot her.

Shonda enjoyed shopping, dressing up, attending church functions, gospel programs and spending time with family.

On Friday, December 6, 2024, Shonda transitioned peacefully, while riding the bus home from Washington Square Center.  She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Aaron Scott; grandmother, Elizabeth Scott; father, Frank Hollins; sisters, Lorenda "Big Lo" Mitchell and Gloria Jeanette Sturdevant; an uncle, Warren Scott, Sr.; two aunts, Patricia Scott and Barbara Scott and a cousin, Vernon Pennington, Jr.

Shonda leaves to cherish her sweet memories to her mother, Vallie S. Mitchell, three (3) brothers; Henry Mitchell II, Cedric Sturdevant and Johnny Roby; two (2) sisters, Patricia Henderson and Angela Chillis; her second mom, Gloria Allen Sturdevant and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
