I was born Shawanna She'Quise Woodruff on the sixth day of July in 1978 in Mound Bayou, Mississippi. I was the prettiest baby born to Shelia and Calvin Whitt(sorry Deonna, Amy, Stephanie). I was the second of four children. The early part of my life was spent in Pace, MS. At the age of 8, I moved to Greenville with my wonderful and caring Grandmother, Jewel,( who preceded me in death). It was my grandmother who introduced me to my spirtual life. My spiritual journey began in May 1987 at Morning Star Baptist Church in Lamont, MS under the pastorate of the late Reverend W.L. Jones. I sang in the youth Choir, along with my sister, Deonna and my cousin, Audrey (can you believe we did something else beside play pella-pella). At the age of 11, my family and I moved to Paramount, CA where we became faithful members of True Witness Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Edward Knight. I and my sisters continued to sing in the youth choir. After two years, my family returned to Greenville, MS. Shortly afterward, we united with the King Solomon Baptist Church of Metcalfe, MS (where I also sang in the choir) under the leadership of Reverend Donald Washington. Because of my mom's burning desire to be surrounded by my family, we joined the Greater St. Peter Baptist Church where my uncle, Reverend Jesse King is pastor. And yes, again I was a member of the choir. By now you know that I enjoy worshipping God through songs. My cousin, Audrey went on to sing with the heavenly choir some years ago, and little did I know that she had saved a sit for me. I attended Pearman Elementary School in Cleveland, Mississippi and McBride and Carrie Stern Elementary School in Greenville, Mississippi. I attended middle school at Clearwater Middle School in Paramount, CA. I also attended Greenville High School and in 1998 and received my high school diploma. I furthered my education and became a certified phlebotomist. I was currently enrolled at Mississippi Delta Community College aspiring to become an LPN. I have been employed with AT&T for the last five years as a Directory Assistance Operator. In February 2012, I was united in marriage to Armon Smith, my friend of 15 years. He was truly the love of my life and we shared some happy times together. The greatest joy of our union is seen in our son, Armon Jr. With this marriage, I was blessed with a wonderful brother-in-law, who was really the dear sweet brother I never had- Johnny Love. Johnny preceded me in death earlier this year. I loved life and with family and friends, I lived life to its fullest. They often told me that I was the life of the party. I loved to make others laugh and did so, on a daily basis. My mom often told me that I was the glue that held our family together. My sisters said that I was the glue to thier friendship with others because we came as a package deal. My children thought that I could conquer the world for them and because they thought so, I attempted to do just that. My dad would just laugh at me and call me crazy. Because I was straight forward person, not everyone was in agreement with how I handled things, but at the end of the day, we were all pleased with the results. On Thursday morning, July 25, I traded time for eternity in the presence of the Lord. My family and loved ones and those who loved me most included: My wonderful parents, Shelia and Calvin Whitt; my husband, Armon; My beautiful children, Lawrence, Renise, Terrell and Armon Jr.; my loving sisters; Deonna, Amy & Stephanie. My precious nieces, Setoria, Le-Le, Brea & Miyah; My handsome nephews, Quez, Mark & Bebe; My grandparents, Mrs. Alma Hayes and Mr. Clarence(Mary) Whitt, Sr.; My Mother-in-law, Ms. Margie Smith-Mills, My god-brother, Terrance Jones; and two close friends, Mattie and Tenethia, my wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law and many other relatives and friends. To my family, thank you all for loving me so much. Cry if you must but not as if you have no hope because I am really at peace. Continue to take care of my children as you always have. I love you dearly and dearly. I will miss you all. I look forward to that day that we shall all meet again.
