Sam Johnson, III was born on September 29, 1945 in Leland, MS to the late Sam Johnson, Sr. and Mary Willis Johnson.  Sam attended Dun'dee Elementary School and high school in the state of Mississippi.

After completing his education, Sam moved his residency to Chicago, Illinois at an early age.  Afterwards, he pursued a career in the field of construction from the early seventies to the late nineties.  Construction was his life.  He retired from the Children's Memorial Hospital Construction Site.  He enjoyed life, and had many hobbies like taking his boat out on the lake front; but most of all, his favorite thing was watching football as he was a football fanatic.

On Wednesday, November 2, 2022, the Lord called Sam, our dad, home to be with those whom had gone on before him; his father and mother, Sam Johnson, Sr. and Mary Willis Johnson; son, Ricky Johnson; seven (7) brothers and four (4) sisters, and wives Eva Mae Johnson and Barbara Johnson.

Sam leaves to cherish his memories his sons, Paul Johnson, Samuel Johnson, Andrew Porter, and step son, Jerome Ross; three (3) daughters, Sandra Knight and Ericka Pulliam; also Dale, Amos, Mary, Lula, Bobby and Veronica; three (3) daughters-in-law, Rosetta Johnson, Wendy Johnson, and Lisa Johnson; three(3), Mahalia Bennett, Sadie Brown and Ida Barnes; five (5) brothers, Jesse Johnson, Willie Hayes, Arthur Johnson, David Johnson and Albert Johnson, and a host of grand and great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of family and friends.
