Mrs. Ruthie Proctor was born on July 19, 1943 in Pace, Bolivar County, Mississippi to the late Nathaniel Wilson, Sr. and Anne Mae Grady. She was the second child of twelve (12) children. She surrendered her life to Christ under the leadership of Suffragan Bishop Elder T.J. Melton at the Vernon Memorial Apostolic Faith Church in Mound Bayou, MS in 1970. Upon his transition, she remained a member under the leadership of Elder William Cummings where she was a faithful usher and van driver. She enjoyed participating in vocational bible school and loved Sunday School until her transitioning.

Many affectionately called her Ruth. She believed in receiving a good education and working hard. She attended school in the Pace & Rosedale School Districts and later received a Certificate of High School Equivalence and a Child Development Associate Credential and completed courses at Coahoma Junior College.

She met and married Andrew Proctor, Sr. in 1958. They moved to Caruthersville, Missouri for a short time and then moved back to Cleveland, Mississippi.

Ruth worked many years at the Bolivar County Head Start in Cleveland, Mississippi where she showed love and compassion to all the children and made life friends with many colleagues. During the 1980s, she began work at Baxter Healthcare Corporation where she worked as an assembler for respiratory therapy until she retired. Immediately after retirement, she used her sewing ability and began making pillows. People from all around town and the United States recognized the quality of her merchandise. Oftentimes, she would donate her proceeds to charitable organizations. Of recent, she was an avid supporter of The Proctor Foundation.

She was very civic-minded, knowledgeable, and politically astute. Early on, she was very involved in the election process in Cleveland, Mississippi and Bolivar County. She often volunteered her time to work "The Polls" and support local candidates.

Mrs. Proctor was preceded in death by: her mother, Annie Mae Grady; father, Nathaniel Wilson, Sr.; four (4) sisters: Ophelia Pates, Willye Mae Whitehall, Christine Harris and Mary Woods; three (3) brothers: Nathaniel Wilson, Jr., Malachi Banks and James Wilson.

She leaves to honor and cherish her precious memories; seven children: Dorothy (Charles) White. Pearlie Smith, Andrew Proctor, Jr., Larry (Kimberley) Proctor, Dewayne (Dyshetra) Proctor, Sr., Cynthia Powell, Don (Danielle) Proctor, Sr., ;Two sisters: Jacquelyn Grady and Della (Eddie) Edwards Robinson; two brothers: Willie (Ethel) Whitehall and Lamar (Kimberly) Grady; 25 grandchildren: Rodney (Twila) Proctor. Shina White, Deobilo Proctor, Derrick Proctor, Denise Proctor, Deaunte Proctor, Danyala Smith, Kokeya Vaughn, LaShundria Allen, Rasheed Proctor, Rashaan (Sierra) Proctor, Khalid (Jada) Proctor, Brianna Proctor, Jasmine Holmes. Alexis Holmes, Dewayne Proctor, Jr., Jonathan Proctor, Derwin Proctor, Siraya Proctor, Bobby (Kimberly) Lewis, Jr., Nicholas Proctor, Paige Powell, Daniel Proctor and Chase Proctor; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
