Obituary

Ruby was born January 7, 1951 in Greenville, MS to the late Willie C. and Rosie Mary Turner.

She confessed a hope in Christ at the age of 15, at Mount Nebo Free Will Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. R.G. Simmons.  She was baptized in 1966 at the City Front on Lake Ferguson.  In 1973, she moved her membership to New Hope First Baptist under the leadership of Rev. J. M. Kimble.  She served diligently as Secretary of the B.T.U. and a member of the Ushers' Ministry.

Ruby's early education was at the Greenville public school system.  She was a 1969 graduate of Coleman High School.

Ruby was united in marriage to Samuel Wood, Jr. on January 13, 2002 and to this union one son, Japheth was born.

Ruby worked diligently as a crossing guard for McBride Elementary school until her health failed.

She was preceded in death by both parent and her loving grandmother, Mary Peterson.

She will be sorely missed by her loving husband, Samuel; son, Japheth; a sister, Rosemary Turner; and a brother, Willie C. Turner, Jr., both of Chicago, IL; three sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, special cousins, Emma Lee Jackson of Greenville, MS and Janice Kilcrease of Monroe, LA; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and New Hope Church Family.
