A TIME TO BE BORN:

Roy Stanford, Sr was born November 7, 1951 to Clayborne Harris and Linnie B. Stanford-Lacy in Drew, MS.  He confessed his faith in Christ at an early age at Saint John Methodist Church in Drew, MS.  In adulthood, he joined William Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Ruleville, MS under the leadership of the late Rev. Oddis Keaton.  He later moved his membership to Holly Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Drew, MS where he was a devoted deacon and played bass guitar.  He was preceded in death by his father, Clayborne Harris, and his son, Rodrick Stanford.

Roy was a graduate of Hunter High School in 1970 where he received the highest honor of being the valedictorian of his class.  Roy attended Delta State University on an academic scholarship where he majored in accounting.  Roy worked as a manufacturing supervisor for over 30 years at ITT, Duo-Fast, Sunbeam & Oster, and Dollar General Warehouse.  After retiring from the manufacturing industry, Roy went into business for himself as a restaurant owner Boss Hog's in Ruleville, MS.  He also served as the Sunflower County Election Commissioner until his health began to fail.

On November 7, 1972, Roy married his high school sweetheart, Jacqueline Edwards, to whom he was married for 50 years.  To this union, three children were born.

A TIME TO DIE:

Roy was called to glory to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.  Although we will miss him dearly, we know that God knows best.  Jesus said, "I go and prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there ye may be also ( John 14:2-3)".  God sent His angels to receive Roy home.

A TIME TO EMBRACE:

He leaves to cherish his precious and loving memories, his devoted wife, Jacqueline Stanford; his mother, Linnie B. Lacy of Drew, MS; his two sons, Brian Coleman of Drew, MS and Roy (Jennifer) Stanford, Jr. of Brandon, MS; one daughter, Youmika (Johnny) Williams of Cleveland, MS; three brothers, Bobby Harris, Sr.  of Drew, MS; James Harris and Gregg Muhammad of Chicago, IL; seven sisters:  Diane Wallace of Drew, MS; Dorothy Black of Memphis, TN; Cleo Harris, Sherry Harris-Reed, Vivian Yancy, Lillie Harris, and Carolyn Flowers of Chicago, IL; seventeen grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
