Pastor Rosie Mae Birge was born on July 27, 1930 to Roosevelt, Sr. and Mary Brown.  Both of whom preceded her in death.  She was the oldest of seven children.  Pastor Birge had little education which led to God using her in a peculiar way.

She met the love of her life at age 14, the late Willie Lee Birge, Sr.  The two were joined together in Holy Matrimony on December 23, 1944.  To this union, 13 children were born; 5 of them preceded her in death.  Pastor Rosie Birge worked as a Nurse Assistant at the Cleveland Nursing and Rehab Center in Cleveland, MS until her retirement.

She accepted Christ at age 7.  She received the gift of the Holy Ghost in 1950.  She later joined the COGIC where she remained a faithful member until 1967.  She was urged by the Holy Ghost that something was missing.  She was led by a light to a house where God had prepared b a white hairy man to baptize her in the Name of Jesus.  She was led to a little church called Pace Miracle Revival Center in Pace, MS under the leadership of Pastor Walter Scott, Sr. and the late Bishop E.Q. Adams of Greenwood, MS.

After rejecting her calling for many years, in February of 1972, she became one of the first women pastors in the Delta. She started her pastorship at a little church in Renova, MS called Rose Hill Church.  In 1976 Bishop Walter Scott, Sr. relocated to Portland, OR which led Pastor Rosie Birge assuming leadership at the Pace Miracle Deliverance Church in Pace, MS, where she pastored for 40 years.  As a pastor, she opened her church doors and lent her pulpit to give many ministers and preachers, who later became pastors and leaders an opportunity to exercise their gifts.  She has fed the hungry, housed the homeless, and clothed people that didn't have the proper attire.  She was a provider for the community while delivering to them the True Word of God.

She is also preceded in death by two sisters:  Elease Holton and Georgia Wilson, one son-in-law (Willie Morris) and two grandsons, Leroy Birge, Jr. and LaMario Birge.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Dorothy Morris and Betty Payne(Leroy) both of Cleveland, MS; six sons, Willie Birge, Jr. (Corine) of Chicago, IL, Robert Birge (Ethel) of Jacksonville, AR, Ruso Birge of Sherwood, AR, Leroy Birge (Marjorie) BIrge, L.M. Birge and Roger Birge all of Cleveland, MS.  Four brothers, Roosevelt Brown, Sr., Henry Brown (Linda), both of Kenner, LA, Elbert Brown, Sr. of Columbus, GA and Frank Washington (Alma) of Hollandale, MS.  33 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  One very special nephew, Elbert Brown, Jr.

We can truly say she was another Holy Vessel of God, true soldier and prayer warrior gone home!
