Obituary

A Time To Be Born Roosevelt Walker was born February 2, 1939 in Onward, MS to the late Mr. Bennie Walker and Mrs. Lillie Bell Palmer. A Time To Grow "Bro" or "Roe" as he was affectionately known, confessed his hope in Christ and was baptized at Greater Hinds Street M.B. Church on February 20, 2011 by Pastor Thomas Morris, Sr. After his baptism, he was steadfast in his faith and was a dedicated Deacon, an active member of Bible Class and Sunday School, and continued to attend Orientation Class well after the required period of time, as recent as three days before his passing. He was a 1958 graduate of Coleman High School and one year later, relocated to Las Vegas, NV, where he was a resident for 23 years. While in Las Vegas, he was employed with Silver State Disposal and the Nevada Testing Site. After returning to Greenville in 1982, became employed with Lazy-Boy Manufacturing, where he remained until his retirement in 2004. "Roe" was an avid traveller and fisherman. A Time To Love In 1992, "Roe" met and fell in love with Rose Mary McMiller and on February 14, 1997, they were united in holy matrimony. A Time To Die Deacon Walker was called home to eternal rest on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Calhoun City Hospital in Calhoun City, MS. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Allen Walker.
