Roger Curtis Woodruff, was born on March 5, 1959 in Cleveland, MS to Willie and Jewel Woodruff.  He grew up in Pace, MS with the rest of his siblings.  Through the guidance of his parents, Roger declared his belief in Christ in 1970 at the age of eleven.  After baptism, he became a member of The Spangle Banner Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. W.B. Brown.  Here his faith was nurtured through worship, service and fellowship.

Roger had a deep sense of wonder and curiosity that caused him to gravitate toward the wisdom of older people-eager to learn and absorb all he could.  He had a thirst for knowledge and a deep respect for the experiences of others- qualities that remained with him throughout his life.  His genuine love for people was unmistakable.  Much like his parents, Roger never met a stranger.  He had a natural warmth that made everyone feel like a friend.

Roger attended elementary school at Pace Attendance Center in Pace, MS.  He attended junior high and high school in Rosedale, MS and is a 1977 graduate of Rosedale High School.

Roger moved to Chicago, IL shortly after graduation and became employed by Pitney Bowes.  He later relocated to Milwaukee, WI where he made his home until his passing on August 22, 2025.

Roger lived a life marked by complexity, compassion and conviction.  A true student of God's Word, Roger held tightly to his faith, even through personal struggles.  Despite the hardships he faced, Roger remained a believer to the end and his love for family never wavered.  He will be remembered not only for his sharp mind and thoughtful nature but also for his impeccable sense of style and the sincerity with which he believed and loved.  Roger traded time for eternity and now rests in the presence of the Lord.

Roger was preceded in death by his loving parents, his sister, Cheyenne and his brothers, Elmer and Ronald.

Roger is survived by his daughter, Adrienne; his son, Roderick; his devoted friend, Linda Austin; his siblings, Claudette, Laverne, Shirley, Willie, Shelia, Sandra and Andrew; his brothers-in-law, Larry Bumpus, Sr., Rev. Jesse King and Calvin Whitt; his best friend, Ron Grainger, one aunt, two uncles, six nephews, thirteen nieces, and many, many cousins and other relatives.

Roger's journey was imperfect, but his heart was genuine---- and his memory will be cherished by those he loved.
