Ramona Willie Bailey, the oldest of Reverend Bertis and Jerutha Bailey's six girls, was born on December 24, 1929 in Merigold, Mississippi.  She grew up in the Drew area where she attended church and accepted Christ at an early age.

Ramona frequently accompanied her father on trips to the Mississippi State and National Baptist Conventions and Congress of Christian Education meetings, and it was here that she acquired her love for gospel music and Christian teachings.  She remained a member of the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Mound Bayou until her death.

She received her early education in the Drew School district, attended Alcorn State University, and subsequently earned her Bachelor's and Specialist's Degrees in Education, including special education, from Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU). During her MVSU matriculation she met Royal Walker, Sr., and they were later joined in matrimony.  This union produced two sons, Royal, Jr., and Raymond (who died in childhood).

Ramona taught in schools throughout the Mississippi Delta and even coached championship winning girls' basketball teams in Sunflower, Mississippi.  She had a love for education and sports, and was a forever fan of LSU football.  She would go on to spend over forty years teaching in Mississippi's school system before her retirement in 1993. She continued to serve as a substitute teacher for many years after her retirement.

Due to her failing health she spent her final days at Pine Forest Health and Rehabilitation Nursing Home in Jackson, Mississippi, where she was able to spend time with her family.  She quietly departed her earthly life on Saturday, November 28, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Raymond, and three sisters, D'Ethel Williams, Minnie Ford, and Geraldine Clayton.

She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Royal Walker, Jr. (Evelyn) from Ridgeland, MS; two granddaughters, Kristina Walker Bryant (Joe), Denver, CO, Kandace Walker, Jackson, MS; two sisters, Thelma Riley, Huntsville, AL, and Earnestine Clayton, New York, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
