Phyllis D.
Franklin
Jul 5, 1963 — May 15, 2019
Greenville
The life of Phyllis Deloris Mays Franklin began as a delightful and beautiful baby girl on July 5, 1963 in Scott, Mississippi. She was the daughter of the late Eligah and the late Lucy Mays, Sr. As a young child, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Mount Tenia Church.
Phyllis was educated at Nugent Center High School in Benoit, Mississippi. After graduation, she moved to Detroit, Michigan to be with her soulmate. They married shortly afterwards and added to their union, one son, Kendrick Mays Franklin.
Phyllis was also the proud godmother of Jerome Gilbert, Jr. of Detroit, MI.
Phyllis gained employment with General Motors where she worked for many years. She later relocated back to Greenville, Mississippi. "P.P." as her family so lovingly called her, loved life! SHE LIVED LIFE TO IT'S FULLEST and enjoyed having sun and dancing with her relatives and friends.
It was Wednesday, May 15, 2019 when the Lord sent his angel of mercy down to Greenville, Mississippi to safely guide Phyllis to her destination. She took his hand and went swiftly to her heavenly home. Preceding her in death were her husband, Earl Franklin; her parents, Eligah and Lucy Mays; her sisters: Rosie Mays and Lula Johnson; and her brother: James Mays.
Phyllis is now rejoicing with the angels - for her earthly life is complete. She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Kendrick Franklin, one godson: Jerome Gilbert, Sr. ; two brothers: Eligah(Dorothy) Mays, Jr. and William Mays.; two sisters: Florida Mays and Lettie Mays: a devoted caregiver, Sarah Johnson; her side kick/twin Shelley Kelly. Also cherishing her memories: the Franklin family, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends she considered as her sisters: Chrice Gilbert, Debbie Kitchens, and Mary Wilson, who was also her caregiver in Detroit, Michigan. We will miss her dearly.
