Journey Of Life

Moses George Jones entered God's earthly realm on January 7, 1947, to the proud parents of A. D. Jones and Eliza D. Jones in Sunflower County.  Moses was named after his uncle, Moses George Jones, Eliza's brother, who did not have children.  As a young boy, Moses was baptized and became a member of Mt. Gazie, M.B. Church in Stringtown, Mississippi.

Moses was preceded in death by his parents, A. D. and Eliza Della Jones-Jones; sister, Mary Bell Jones-Gordon; sister, Selener Jones-Fields; brother, Willie Howard Jones; and brother, Oscar Lee Jones.

Moses attended elementary school in Stringtown, Shaw and Grapeland, Mississippi.  Once promoted to seventh grade, he began his studies at Nugent Center High School.  Moses was a prominent basketball player in high school and graduated in 1965.  After being drafted into the Army, he continued to play throughout Europe.  After his tour in the Army, Moses briefly attended Coahoma Junior Community College.  Moses worked and retired from General Mills.

Moses' favorite second hobby entailed multiple branches of horticulture ( Olericulture, Floriculture, Landscape Horticulture, and Viticulture ( in which he perfected muscadine wine).

Moses was a man of remarkable intellect and charm, possessing a sharp mind matched only by his warm and engaging personality.  His intelligence was evident in his thoughtful conversations and keen problem-solving abilities, making him a sought-after colleague and friend.  He had an uncanny ability to make everyone around him feel valued and heard, effortlessly connecting with people from all walks of life.  Moses's zest for life was contagious; he enthusiastically embraced every moment and genuinely appreciated the world around him.  Whether exploring new places, indulging in his love for basketball, or enjoying a good laugh with friends, Moses lived life to the fullest, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Moses departs this world, leaving behind everlasting joyful memories; children, Michael Gray (Ida), San Antonio, Texas; George Gray (Shawn), Stafford, Virginia; Moses Jones, Jr; Patrick Danley and Desmond Jones, Kansas City, Missouri; Stephanie Davis-Keeton (Larry), Pensacola, Florida; and Courtney Danley-Schweisberger (Traci), Clearwater, Florida; brothers, A.D. Jones, Jr. (Hattie); Wendell Jones (Mitty); and Audie Jones (Sandra); sisters, Deloris Jones Sanders-Johnson (Lee); and Catherine Jones.  He also leaves his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
