Mashelia's Journey:

In the city of Greenville, MS on June 13, 1971, Mashelia Ann Johnson made her introduction into the world.  She was born to the late Floyd Johnson Sr. and Annie Willie Johnson.  She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Sarah Splounge and Berstein Johnson and brothers; Floyd Johnson Jr. and Kenneth Johnson.

Mashelia accepted Christ at a young age, and later joined the Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist Church.  During her early years as a member Mashelia participated in drama club production plays such as "Hey Little Johnny'."  While at Ephesus, Mashelia held many titles.  These titles included head usher, AYS Leader, and was an active parent member in the then Hands of Praise.  Mashelia had a love for music and translated that love into her yearly and legendary Gospel Explosions.  At these events she spread the message of Christ and His love by bringing in choirs, singers, and instrumentalists from all over the community.  She also loved to feed people because she figured if you are praising God the right way you are bound to be hungry.

Knowing the importance of having God in your life, Mashelia made sure that her children participated in church from an early age.  Having the chance to really know Mashelia would give way to the heart of gold that she had.  She never met a stranger, and always put others before herself.  She gave the best hugs, and she always spoke words of encouragement.  She will be remembered for her warm and winning smile, and her famous saying "I ain't know!!".

Mashelia was the epitome of resilience and strength, even through her battle with Huntington Disease.  God saw the work that Mashelia had done and the lives that she had forever changed and called her to rest on May 24, 2023.

She leaves behind to cherish and celebrate her life; three daughters, Lashawndra Aaron ( Greenville MS), Latasha Aaron (Greenville, MS) and Kendrika Birgan ( Double Springs, AL); four sons, Gerick Jarmon ( Greenville, MS), Kenneth Aaron, Jr. (Greenville, MS), Trayaun Birgan ( Double Springs, AL) and Kentarius Johnson ( Indianalopis, IN); four grandchildren, Gloria Rodgers, Johntavius Aaron, Kenneth Aaron III ( all of Greenville, MS) and Keeley Johnson ( Indianapolis, IN); two nephews, Cedric Splounge ( Greenville, MS) and Earnest Moore ( Greenville, MS); two nieces,  Lakendria Splounge ( Greenville, MS) and Alexis Johnson (Texas); three aunties, Willette Hil (Toledo, OH) , Essie Warfield ( Chicago, IL)  and Hattie Williams ( Toledo, OH)  two special cousins, Mildred Williams and Shirley Adams ( both of Indianapolis, IN); and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
