Mary Lou Page passed peacefully from this life the morning of June 21st after a gradual decline in health. She was surrounded and supported by her loving children, family, and community during the last days of her life. Mary was born in Mound Bayou, MS to the late Rev. John L. and Willie Mae Cosey. At an early age, she was stricken with the polio disease leaving her to walk with the assistance of crutches. Mary did not allow her handicap to deter her from her life goals. With immeasurable determination, Mary went on to complete her high school (1961), pursued and completed her Bachelor of Science in Business Education at Mississippi Valley College, which is now, Mississippi Valley State University. Mary begin her career at McEvans High School, and later integrated to Shaw High School. She was known for her "No Nonsense" approach to teaching and to life. "Hands in Position, Ready?Begin." Any student that was under her instruction can tell you a story about "Mrs. Page". Mary headed many organizations within her tenure at Shaw High School. Mary served the Shaw School District for 26 years and her community until her passing. Mary was baptized at an early age, and when she moved to Shaw, MS she joined Strangers' Home Missionary Baptist Church. She was very active in the church, even when her health began to decline.
