Obituary

Mary Ann Newsome was born December 2, 1954 in Shaw, MS to the union of the late Mose Curry, Sr. and Freddie Mae Cole-Curry. Mary Ann accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. James Coleman at Poplar Grove M.B. Church and later joined Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church under the leadership of Rev. O.J. Thrash/Rev. W.E. Tinson. She remained a faithful member until her death under the leadership of Rev. Herron Wilson. Mary Ann was employed with the Cleveland School District for 24 years and retired, but continued her love of education as a Board member of Bolivar County Community Action Agency. Among her many accomplishments, education has always been a priority as she finished Delta State University with both a Bachelor's and Master's degree. Not stopping there, she followed those up with a Specialist degree in her craft at Jackson State University. In her spare time, she was an avid gardener with a flair for home decoration and a member of premier Social Club of Shaw, MS. But her proudest endeavors were the labor of love that she had for her church and community. She married her High School sweetheart, the late Sterlin Louis Fulton, and moved to Detroit, MI, where four children were born under this union. Mary Ann returned home to Shaw, MS where she later married her Love, Curtis Newsome and to this union one child was born.
