Her Story

Marquita Lynette Mims, affectionately known as "Kita Mims" was born on October 19, 1983 to Marian Mims and Robert Henderson in Chicago, Illinois.  This feisty bundle of joy was their second born.

"Kita Mims" was reared in Chicago briefly and at the age of 2 she became a Southern Girl and began her life in Drew, Mississippi.  While in Drew, she accepted Christ during her youth and joined the Holly Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Jesse Gresham.  After adulthood, she moved to Horn Lake, Mississippi where she resided until her death.

"Kita Mims" proudly attended Drew High School.

"Kita Mims" had a contagious smile and a great sense of humor.  She spent most of her joyous time with her children and her "nanna" which is her first grand (Lei'Lani).  Also, she shared her joyous personality with her siblings, family and friends.  She was loved by many.  Kita Mims enjoyed her constant companion and best friend "her daughter" Moniquea Mims.  They were "Two Peas In A Pod"  Kita Mims enjoyed cooking tasteful meals for her family and decorating brought her joy.  She loved being a mother to her boys, they were her personal protector and most importantly her "side kicks".  They Were The Stars In Her Sky.

Kita Mims, loved having hair and nails done and buying new household items for her home.  Selfcare and A Nice Home was A Passion for Her.

Sadly, she endured the untimely death of her infant son, N'Kerius Mims in 2003.

"Kita Mims" departed this earthly life on October 21, 2023 and leaves family to hold memories of her close to their heart.  Her mother, Marian Mims (Richard) of Olive Branch; Her father, Robert Henderson (Vanessa) of Chicago; (1) beautiful daughter:  Moniquea Mims (3) handsome sons:  Lorenzo Williams, Jr., Isiah Mims and El'Guardo Williams all of Horn Lake; (1) beautiful granddaughter:  Lei'Lani Williams (6) sisters:  Shira Gregg (John) of Chicago, Starshema McKinzie of Horn Lake; Santricia Butler, Tiffany McGee, Ja'Quita McGee, and Ruthie Baker all of Chicago; (4) brothers:  Sporty Parker of Olive Branch; Robert Woods, Ryan Woods and Richard Woods Jr. all of Indiana; a (3) bonus siblings:  Valarie McKnight of Horn Lake; Joanne Coleman of Oxford, Bobbie Ann Anderson of Batesville.  Grandmother: Alice Mims of Chicago; Bonus Mothers:  Ruthie Evans and Karen Mims both of Drew; a Godmother; Darlene Smith of Robinsonville; A special friend:  Angelia McNeal of Horn Lake, MS; Her lifelong friend Andre Jefferson of Drew.  A host of relatives and friends will miss her and cherish her memories as well.
