REFLECTION OF LIFE
Marquain Zantel Jones, simply known as "Quain" to his family and counterparts, departed this life to be with our Heavenly Father on February 16, 2024. He was born to Lillie Mae Jones and Starling Breedlove on August 1, 1983, but was reared in a firm yet loving environment by his mother and George (June) Hollins, Jr. Upon confessing his faith in Christ, in his teen years, he was baptized at St. Luke Church.
Residing in the rural town of Metcalfe, MS for majority of his life, Marquain was a perpetual attendee of O'Bannon Elementary and Norma C. O'Bannon High Schools. In true green and white spirit, he was a member of the Mighty Greenwave Marching Band, where he was competent in the musical annotations of several instruments. Likewise, given his educational attainments, he was a proud member of the graduating class of 2002.
Beyond his educational pursuits, Marquain embarked on a journey to serve his country, whereupon he enlisted in the United Sates Air Force in 2003. Within this arena, he would procure placement in the Special Forces Security Squadron, where he would dutifully serve in the capacity for 2 years and 3 months. Noting other aspects of his professional development, at the time of his passing, Marquain was employed with the City of Greenville via the Division of Parks and Recreation. Prior to this position, he was an employee of Walmart #182, in Greenville, MS. His tenure at this location was a period of 9 years.
In regards to his personal life, Marquain exhibited a keen appreciation for all things family and fun. His no-nonsense attitude coupled with a candid sense of humor meant that he never met a stranger. His hobbies included anime, cooking, traveling, and Taekwondo, which he vigorously pursued with his "brothers from other mothers" during his early years as well a a portion of his later years. In the same vein, he was a devoted husband, dedicated father and loyal friend.
Marquain was preceded in death by his grandmother, Hattie Jones; grandfather, Percy Ellis; brother, Keun Jones; aunts, Emma Carter and Leanna Christon; uncle, Frankie Jones; and cousin, Charlie Winslow. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Tiffany Murphy-Jones; (1) daughter, M'kayla Zariah Jones; (1) son, Kaleb Zerell Jones; his mother, Lillie Jones; step-father, George Hollins, Jr.; (6) brothers, Kataurus Jones, Quardaryl Jones, Rick Smith, Jerome Davis, Kevin Davis, and Tywayne Davis; (5) sisters: Laqueata Jones, Gloria Davis, Genell Davis, Falisha Davis, and Maryann Smith, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
