Marcus Lydell "Lok" Conrod was the first born child of Mr. Jerry Thompson, who preceded him in death and Gloristine Thompson on November 6, 1971 in Mound Bayou, MS.  He also had six (6) siblings, one brother to precede him in death, George Ivy, Jr.

Marcus moved with his family to Los Angeles, California at the age of 4.  He attended 96th Street Elementary School, George Washington Jr. High School and Chadworth High School in Los Angeles, CA.  He moved back to Ruleville with his parents in 1988.  Marcus attended Ruleville Central High School and graduated with the Mighty Class of 1990 in which two of his closest friends Garrett "Redd" Carpenter and Jeffery Lamar "Jed" Davis preceded him in death.

He accepted Christ at an early age at Merry Grove M.B. Church in Minter City, MS under the leadership of Pastor Milton McWilliams.  Marcus married the love of his life Yumaiko on May 4th, 1998 and to this union one child was born (Courtessa).  He later united with New Jerusalem M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor Timothy Wright, where he remained until his death.

Marcus Lydell Conrod was born into eternity, Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, TN.  Marcus leaves to mourn his passing his devoted and loving wife of 21 years, Yumaiko Cox Conrod, his parents, George and Gloristine Ivy; a special mother-in-law Verna Dean Dunlap; one son Marcus Williams of Memphis, TN, 5 daughters, Courtessa(Cody) Conrod, Courtney Cox, Erin Robinson, Andreanna Hollins and Chloe Winford all of Ruleville, MS; 3 brothers Lorenzo(Catherine) Thompson of Tupelo, MS, Jamar (Christina) Thompson of Jacksonville, FL, Byron(British) Thompson of Ruleville, MS; 4 sisters, Tenisha (Jeffery)Ivy of Ruleville, MS, Georgetta and Rochelle Ivy of Los Angeles, CA and Latonya Ivy of Watts, CA; 8 grandchildren, a special sister-in-law Sherikee Cox of Ruleville, MS, a host of uncles, aunt, nieces, nephews, close cousins and friends.
