A Time to be Born

Lynda Patrice Shepherd was the first child born to Annette Shepherd and Clyde Pierce at South Sunflower County Hospital in Indianola, MS.

A Time to be Baptized

Lynda confessed her life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Inverness, MS under the leadership of Reverend C.J. Nelson. She later joined Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Indianola, MS.

A Time to Plant

Affectionally known as "Pookie", Lynda was loving, patient, kindhearted, and compassionate, willing to help all in need especially the elderly with a welcoming smile. She was a joy to her family and friends and throughout her life freely expressed her love for dance and sass. Family spent many fun filled days watching her "snake" to the floor or entertain them with her sass. Lynda had a knack for making others laugh.

Lynda completed her studies at Gentry High School in 2001 and attended Mississippi Delta Community College for a period. At Gentry, she enjoyed participating in the marching band where she played the cymbals and the trumpet. Throughout her employment, she honed her customer service skills and enjoyed servicing her customers. She worked several customer service retail jobs through the years but found special joy as a personal care assistant servicing the elderly and disabled. Recently she took great pride in becoming a certified personal care attendant for the elderly and disabled.

The true joy of Lynda's life was her son David'yon. She dedicated her life to raising him to be a God-fearing, spiritual, and strong young man who is as compassionate as she. Throughout her illness, you would not see one without the other as he often was a caretaker for his mom. Proverbs 22:6, Train up a child in the way he should go, and even when he is old, he will not depart from it, was truly her mantra. She was devoted to instilling a loving spirit in him.

A Time to Rest

Lynda transitioned this life surrounded by her loved ones on October 8, 2024, just after midnight at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS.

A Time to Weep

Lynda Patrice Shepherd was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandmothers Doretha Shepherd and Lestine Pierce, her grandfather George Pierce, her namesake aunt Linda Lou Shepherd, and a special cousin Nathan Sharp.

She leaves to cherish her memories her only child, David'yon Shepherd of Indianola, her mother, Annette Shepherd and father, Clyde Pierce, both of Indianola; three sisters, Angelica Shepherd, Jeameatrice Shepherd, and Latanja Pierce (Conchetta) McShane all of Indianola; two brothers, Lance Shepherd of Indianola and Sean (Kimberly) Thomas of New Braunfels, TX; three nieces, Jaylen Shepherd and Serenity Knight of Indianola and Penelope Thomas of New Braunfels, TX; three nephews, Sean and Carter Thomas of New Braunfels, TX, and David Chandler of San Antonio, TX; three loving aunts Marine Woods, Justine Shepherd, and Mary Lou Shepard, of Indianola; one uncle Larry (Kim) Isanberg of Jericho, VT; special cousins, James Celeste, Andronicus and Toinette Shepherd of Indianola, and a host of cousins, friends, and other relatives.
