Lonnie Jones was born February 16, 1946 to Mary King and Sam Jones of Metcalfe, MS.  He received his formal education from O'Bannon High School and later attended Alcorn State University where he pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Science.  Lonnie decided that he wanted to pursue a military career by joining the Navy in 1973.  Ultimately, Lonnie decided that he would withdraw from the Navy and joined the Army to eventually make a career and retired in August of 1994.  He is preceded in death by 1 beautiful sister, Sheila Jones Buchanan, and 2 brother-in-law's, Percy Pennington, Sr., and Frazier Richardson.

Lonnie leaves all his love to his 2 beloved sisters, Josie "Jo-Baby" Pennington (Metcalfe,MS) and Jacqueline "Jackie" Richardson (Atlanta, GA); He also leaves to mourn, 4 nieces, 7 nephews, 3 great nieces and 9 great nephews.  Lonnie's love will forever live in his only daughter, Latonya Jones Tucker-Eshmon ( Greenville, MS) and his only grandson, Scottie (Briunnah) Tucker (Ft. Braggs, NC).
