Levester Frye, Sr. gracefully transitioned from this life's experience and eagerly embraced his Heavenly invitation home on February 28th 2014. Levester Frye, who was affectionately known to his family as "Big Lee" and to many others as "the man with the pretty white hair": graced this earth with his presence on February 15, 1939, in Merigold, Mississippi. He was born to the union of Spencer and Ernestine Frye, in a God-fearing home. Levester attended school in Mississippi but respectfully suspended his education to assist his father in taking care of his family. After he moved up north to Michigan he started his own family and completed his high school education with dignity. Levester worked with integrity at Ford Motor Company in Ypsilanti Michigan for 32 years. He was respectfully known at work for his mild mannered character and soft spoken charisma. He counseled and touched the hearts of many individuals, standing up for the truth and settling co-workers disputes, before later accepting his call into ministry. He accepted salvation into his life at an early age. Seeing the light of God's spirit coming towards him, he "reached out" and embraced that light with praise-filled lips; receiving the infilling and baptism of the Holy Ghost. Levester was a faithful member, deacon and trustee of Mt. Olive Church of God in Christ under the pastorate of Administrative Assistant Willie E. Sheard. He answered the call into ministry and served as an assistance pastor of Burning Bush International Ministries; being ordained under the pastorate of Administrative Assistance Don W. Shelby Jr. Upon prayerful consideration, Levester Frye returned to the south to assist his uncle Charlie Frye in ministry. Shortly thereafter he became the Pastor of St. Mark Church of God in Christ in Mound Bayou, Mississippi. He served as the Shepherd and Pastor of St. Mark for over thirteen years, where he helped construct a new edifice for the people of God. He would often preach from Nehemiah 6:3- And I sent a messenger unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down; why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you? Pastor would admonish us to continue that great work; and not cease to do the work to which we've been called. Pastor Frye fed the hungry, gave generously, comforted the sick, and took in over dozen families to live with his home. He was an active servant in the district under Supt. Roy Riley Sr.; working diligently with joy in support of the jurisdiction, under presiding jurisdictional prelate Bishop Timothy T. Scott. Married for over 41 years, Levester was a faithful husband to one wife; whom he loved to life, namely Carolyn Lee Frye. They met in 1972 and were married within six months. It was truly love at first sight and that love has never left his eyes! He was the proud father of four children and a host of beloved God children. He was a giving and loving provider, brother, encourager, friend, father and grandfather. He was the epitome of a father for many who were naturally fatherless. Levester's legacy will remain in the hearts of all his family and friends and his memories will live until we unite with him again!
