Larry G.
Bass
Jul 26, 1955 — Mar 23, 2021
Cleveland
Deacon Larry Gilvonni Bass was born the 7th child to the late Sam and Martha Bass on July 26, 1955 in Dockery, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Ivory Joe, Samuel Leo, and Theodore Lamar Bass.
Larry began his spiritual journey at an early age. he accepted Christ and was baptized at True Light Missionary Baptist Church (then located in Dockery, MS). His love for the Lord grew as he attended and became involved in the church. He served diligently as a member and deacon, always willing to accept whatever job that was given, whether large or small when he considered it a task for the furtherance of God's Kingdom.
Larry, at the age of 65, transitioned at 5:25 P.M. on the evening of Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Regional One Healthcare Center, Memphis, Tennessee. The angel of silence descended from above to claim one of its own. His tired, wretched soul fled from this painful and sorrowful world to a place of joy, peace, and eternal rest. He was surrounded by his family when he passed.
On September 1, 2019, Larry and the former Almeta Janice Fordham were united in Holy Matrimony, a union which continued until his passing. He was very proud of his family whom he loved dearly, and that love was reciprocated.
Larry was very caring, kind and helpful to his family and many others. His spirit was vibrant and bright, and that brought smiles and love to all those he encountered.
Larry leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted wife, Almeta, five (5) stepchildren, Janice, Chaucer, Natasha, Jaquila and Franesia; one brother, Leroy Bass of Mound Bayou, MS; four (4) sisters: LeFlorence Washington of Ruleville, MS, Betty Jean March of Durant, MS, Martha Bass Clark of Waco, TX, and Alfredia Bass of Cleveland, MS; mother-in-law, Bessie Jackson; one step grandchild; a host of sisters and brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and True Light Church Family.
