Kitzi Rochelle Porter peacefully transitioned to her eternal rest on Friday, March 13, 2026 at Regional One Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Kitzi was born on August 11, 1980 in Mound Bayou, Mississippi to her loving mother, Diann.  As the second child, she was raised in a home filled with love, family and faith.  Kitzi's life was a true testament to resilience, strength and unwavering devotion to God.  At an early age, she embraced her Christian journey and remained steadfast in her spiritual walk throughout her life.  During her 45 remarkable years, she truly "fought a good fight and kept the faith," leaving an enduring impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Kitzi's greatest joy was her family.  She leaves to cherish her precious memory her devoted son, Kendarrius Porter of Mound Bayou, Mississippi and her three beloved godchildren, Za'Riya Taylor, Laquadney White and Lijon Anderson all of Cleveland, Mississippi.

She is also lovingly remembered by her parents, Diann Montgomery (Greg) and James E. Burns.

Her legacy continues through her six cherished grandchildren:  Kendal Porter, Rose Johnson, Ky'Lin Johnson and Ky'Mir Johnson all of Cleveland, Mississippi; and Kinsley Porter and Kingston Porter of Jackson, Mississippi, who will forever carry her love in their hearts.

Kitzi shared a loving and devoted companionship of 24 years with Willie Brown, whose life was deeply enriched by her love and presence, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends who will deeply cherish her memory.

She was a beloved sister to De'Shunta (Tyrone) Pates and JaMeshiya Spivey both of Cleveland, Mississippi; Cassandra Porter of Renova, Mississippi and Keontaye Porter of Memphis, Tennessee.  She also shared special sisterly bonds with Arneisha Taylor, Jaquita Haywood, Sonia Fields and Tabitha Fields, all of Mound Bayou, Mississippi.

Kitzi is also survived by two stepbrothers, Robert D. Montgomery and Robert W. Montgomery, and one stepsister, Angela Jackson, all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and a special brother, Trevor Spivey of Cleveland, MS.

She leaves to cherish her memory eight loving aunts:  Mattie Porter, Tyree Thompson, Shirley Burns and Beverly Coleman all of Mound Bayou, Mississippi; Nacquita Porter of Martin, Tennessee; Lillie Russell of Atlanta, Georgia; Bloundean Vaughn of Cleveland, Mississippi; and Marcie Jackson of Lima, Ohio.  She also held a special place in her heart for five bonus aunts:  Jeannette Scott, Carolyn Scott, Jackie A. Lopez, Patricia Porter and Sandra Carmicle.

Her memory will also be treasured by five uncles:  Daphe Burns and James E. Pruitt, both of Mound Bayou, Mississippi; Donald Ray Hardy of Shaw, Mississippi; Andrew Winston of Drew, Mississippi and Charles Jackson of Lima, Ohio.

Kitzi was deeply loved and cherished by her three special friends; Katrina Harris, Sharon Thomas and Elizabeth Banks-Moore, whose friendship meant so much to her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Dorothy Porter, Andrew Jackson, Florence Burns and James Burns.

Though she has departed from this early life, Kitzi's spirit, strength, faith and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.  Her memory will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
