.Kermit Alfred Brown, 63, was born to the late Ulysses and Doris Louise Brown of Cleveland, MS, on July 5, 1949 in Renova, Mississippi. He was the second born of eight children. Many friends and family referred to him as "Thump", a nickname that derived from a childhood story. At any early age he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church under the ministry of Reverend I.J. James. He attended East Side High School and later studied to become a certified commercial bus driver. Home grown by his parents as a public server, he worked as a co-driver for his father's business, Jim's Cab of Cleveland, Mississippi. Also, he was employed for the Cleveland School District Transportation Department for fifteen years. As he excelled in his career, he constantly sought better opportunities. Being as adventurous as he was, he even tried his hands with construction skills and joined the staff at Flemings Lumber and Griffins Construction Companies. Later he returned to his passion. He was employed with numerous other local transportation companies, the Bolivar County Public Transit System, Delta Mental Health Center, and the Word of Deliverance Bus Lines before he retired in 2006 due to his health. His passion and connoisseurship for driving buses and transporting passengers from county to county, city to city and state to state kept him happily meeting many new people. Still, he took time to entertain everyone by sharing humorous, amazing stories of numerous trips encountered during his career. This was a means of sharing one of his chapters of life with family and friends, who miss him most.
