James C. Black was born to the late James and Ruth Black on April 20, 1947 in Senatobia, MS.  He grew up in Ruleville, MS.  He received his education in the Sunflower County School District.  He was a member of Omega Psi Phi, Masonic Nation, and also, he was an educator.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved wife Lean Hamer-Black, two sons, Thaddeus Black and Brian (Leah) Black (2 granddaughters).  Also, four loving sisters:  Faye Black, Neva Zachary, Barbara Johnson, and Dr. Patty Black.  One devoted brother, Williams (Pete) Black.  Four stepchildren, Lynn (Oliver) Washington, Fatesia (Michael) Shumpert, Eternia (Robert) Hunter, and Trevino (Teisha) Hamer; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives and friends.
