Gloria Jean Hogan "Smoke" entered into life on March 23, 1959, to the late William Henry Hogan and Decie Mae Hogan of Drew, MS.
Gloria Jean Hogan was a native of Drew, MS where she attended school and gained her nickname Smoke from her big brother (Hippy) Willie Hogan Jr. because she was smoking everyone on the track field. During that time, she meets the love of her life, Larry Sanders.
Glora later moved to Ruleville with her family where she worked at Sunflower Grocery store doing what she loved, cooking. Gloria along with her life partner Larry were also entrepreneurs. They hauled people for many summers chopping cotton. They also ran a store in Drew, MS for a few years. Her home was a safe haven for so many in Ruleville too. Gloria started having health issues but that didn't interfere with her independence. She was a very strong-willed person. Who committed to assert her independence throughout all of her days on earth.
Gloria was recently baptized in Jesus' name in Jackson, MS at Greater Bethlehem Temple Church on June 15, 2024, she was so determined to do this. She was filled with the gift of the Holy Spirit 16 years earlier with Eve. Lola B. Moore and Bishop J.W. Moore from Emmanuel World Ministries.
Gloria is perceived in death by both her mother (Decie Mae (Perkins) Hogan and father (William Henry Hogan, and four brothers Willie (Hippy) Hogan, Edward (Oaktree) Hogan, Donald (Don) Hogan, and Tommy Earl Hogan and sister Bobby Jean Hogan.
Gloria leaves cherished memories with Her soulmate Larry Sanders, Drew, MS, Daughter, Latriece (Dee) Hogan, Jackson, MS, LaLarry (Fraquilla) Hogan, Doddsville, MS, Vanessa Sanders, Nashville, TN, Larry Sanders Collierville, TN, Anthony Miller, Memphis, TN, three sisters, Alice Allen, Shirley (Yancy) Lockett, Jackson, MS and Yvonne Hogan, three brothers. Willie Lee Hogan, Drew, MS, Earl Hogan, Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Sabry Hogan, Drew, MS, 15 loving grandchildren, 16 loving great grandchildren, and a host of very special niece, nephews, cousins and friends.
