Floreen Scurlark Fields, affectionately known as "Flo" was the fifth of eleven children born to the late T.G. Scurlark and Sadie Scurlark on October 27, 1951 in Drew, Mississippi. She is preceded in death by her husband, William A. Fields, Jr., one sister, Lubertha Moore, and three brothers, Leon Smith, Theo Scurlark Jr. and Joseph Scurlark.
Floreen attended Hunter Elementary and Hunter High School in Drew, MS. She also attended Eastside High School in Cleveland, MS.
While attending Hunter High School, Floreen met and later married her high school sweetheart, the late William A. Fields, Jr. To this union, three daughters were born: Tara, Lisa and Shaunta.
Floreen accepted Christ as her Saviour at an early age and attended St. John M.B. Church in Blue Lake, MS for many years until the family relocated to Cleveland, MS. She later moved to Chicago with her husband and children. After living in the city for many years, Floreen and William decided to relocate back home to Cleveland, MS. She later became a member of the New. St. James M.B. Church where she remained a member until her death at the age of 74. Floreen passed away on February 18, 2026 at the Bolivar Long Term Care Unit.
Floreen leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories to three daughters: Tara(Tatrick) of Greenwood, MS; Lisa(Kisha) of Lansing, IL and Shaunta (Napoleon) of Grenada, MS: 5 grandchildren, Ashley, Byrice, Thaliyah, Tony Jr. and Terrance and 6 great grandchildren, 3 sisters; Catherine Courtney and Margaret Jones of Greenville, MS, Sharon (Earnest) Smith of Cleveland, MS; 3 brothers, Willie (Wannette) Smith of Park Forest, IL, James F. (Velvett) Scurlark, Sr, of Albany, GA and William (Rosella) Scurlark of Cleveland, MS; 2 Sister-In-Laws; Juanita Smith of Dallas, TX and Yolanda Scurlark of Cleveland, MS; 1 uncle, Walter Scurlark of Temple, TX and 1 aunt, Evie Scurlark of Cleveland, MS and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Her voice, cooking, and telephone calls will be greatly missed by her friends and family. Her spirit will on in every shared story, every echo of laughter and every act of love inspired by her example. We will forever carry her in our hearts.
