Ezell was born December 17, 1939, to the late Reverend Roosevelt and Ella Dentmond in the small town of Doddsville, MS.

He confessed Christ at an early age at New Mt. Zion MB Church under the leadership of Rev. Watson.

Ezell worked for Michigan Central Railroad for a vast number of years. After moving to MS, he worked at Simmons and Belk. He later moved to TN where he worked at BP Service Company as a custodian and security guard. He later moved back to MS to be near his daughters.

Ezell sang with the Glory Bound singers of Doddsville, MS for many years. He had a passion for cooking and making others laugh. To many he was known as "Stepper or Ezy E."

Ezell knew serving the Lord would pay off after while and that one day he would be searching Heaven over, looking for him.

Ezell peacefully slept away on June 13, 2022, at Cleveland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father: Roosevelt and Ella Dentmond; two sisters: Ruby Lee Avant and Edna McSwain; four brothers: Cleophus Dentmond, Roosevelt Dentmond, Jr., Clauzell Dentmond, and L.T. "Libby" Dentmond.

He leaves to cherish his memories; five daughters: Lender Henderson of Rochester, N.Y.; Elaine Anderson of New Castle, PA; Tynika Dentmond of Gainesville, GA; Tywanna Dentmond of Ruleville, MS, and Quinnkeisha Dentmond Townsend (Kendrick) of Ruleville, MS. One son: Terry Porter (Maryann) of Jackson, MI. Three sisters: Lavarah Jones of Ruleville, MS, Princella Hayes of Memphis, TN, And Chester Mae Gibson of Memphis, TN. Nineteen grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
