Emmer McHenry was born June 30, 1925 to the late Charlie and Classie Wright in Cruger, Mississippi. Early in life she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized in 1937 by Rev. Phillip. Mrs. "Honey" married at an early age to her first husband. She later divorced and married Hayes McHenry. They were not blessed with kids of their own, but God looked into her lonely heart and blessed her with four children. For many years Mrs. honey worked as a sharecropper on Van E. Lester plantation in Duncan, Mississippi to provide for her children. Because of so much hard work she and her children were able to save money and buy a house in Duncan, Mississippi. In 1963 they moved from the country. Mrs. Honey served as a pillar in the community. She touched the lives of everyone who knew her. With only an eighth grade education she and her third husband Sidney Tolliver started a program called Save The Children. This program provided food and clothing for many families in Duncan, Mississippi. There were never strangers in her home because Mrs. Honey took in the sick, the hungry, the young and the elderly. Mrs. McHenry closed her eyes and went to her eternal home on Sunday, February 16, 2014 5:00 A.M. at Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland, Mississippi.
