Obituary

Dortha B. "Funny" Walker-Pearson peacefully transitioned to her eternal rest on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN.

Born on July 24, 1966, in the community of Merigold, Mississippi, Dortha's life was a testament to unwavering faith and remarkable resilience.  She embraced her Christian journey at an early age, dedicating herself to a life of spiritual conviction.  Throughout her remarkable 59 years, she truly "fought a good fight and kept the faith," leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Dortha's legacy of love continues through her cherished family.  She is survived by her two devoted sons, Willie Walker III, residing in Charleston, WV, and Calvin Walker of Memphis, TN.  Her memory will also be treasured by her four adored grandchildren:  Laurriatah Walker, Kemarrion Miller, and Jayceon Miller, all of Martin, TN, and Juleaun Miller of Memphis, TN.  Her steadfast companion of 15 years, Dwayne McKinney, along with a vast network of nieces, nephews, and dear friends, will deeply mourn her absence.

She was also a beloved sister to six siblings:  Diann Montgomery (Greg) and Mattie Porter, both of Mound Bayou, MS; Nacquita Porter of Martin, TN; Dorothy Jackson of Racine, WI; Beatrice Jackson of Memphis, TN; and Earnestine Jackson of Cleveland, MS.  Dortha nurtured special bonds with four additional sisters, Dr. Devora Pearson-Berdin (George), Luvenia Chillus, Jeannette Scott, and Patricia Porter, and four special brothers, Edward Pearson, Frederick Pearson, Eugene Pearson and Aubrey Pearson.

Dortha was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Pearson, and was reunited with her dear parents, Mr. James Jackson, Sr. and Mrs. Dorothy Porter.  She also joins five sisters, Delores Evans, Nea Faye Porter, Alice Jackson, Terri Jackson and Betty Campbell and five brothers, Stanley Porter, James Porter, Willie B. Porter, Rufus Porter and James Jackson, Jr. in eternal peace.
