Dorothy Mae (Dot) Williams-Smith was born in Shaw, MS, May 3, 1953 to the late Elnora Williams and the late L.C. Appleton. In 1978, Dorothy was baptized at Pleasant Green M.B. Church. She later moved her membership to C.A. Burke M.B. Church. In 2015, she became a member of Mt, Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of her brother Pastor Edward E. Williams where she served faithfully on the Mothers' Board until her health hinder her attendance. She graduated form, then known as, Rosedale High School. She further her education at Coahoma Community College. She gain employment for many years in the Rosedale School District that is now named, West Bolivar Consolidated School District. On July 13, 2013 Dorothy was united in matrimony to Gregory Smith. She is proceeded in death by her mother, Elnora Williams, her father, L.C. Appleton. 3 brothers: Andrew Williams, L.C. Appleton, Jr., and Robert Lee Williams.

She leaves to cherish her memories a loving devoted husband of 7 years, Gregory Smith. 4 brothers: John ( Maxine) Williams, Edward(Annette) Williams, Tommie (Carla) Williams and Charles Williams. 4 sisters: Evelyn (Earnest) Smith, Rosie (Elton) Wade, Martha (Garfield) Wynter and Ella Lewis. She also leaves to cherish her memories a step-son Gregory Current, a special god- daughter Taneka Hackler, a special niece Tyesha Williams, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and friends whom she all loved.
