Obituary

Donnie Pope was born January 31, 1953 in Beulah, MS to the late Utta Mae Miller and Eddie Pope.  He was reared by his grandparents, Viola and Greenwood Miller.  He accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour at an early age at Mt. Miorah M.B. Church under the leadership of W.B. Brown.  He later joined Gospel Temple M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor Wilbert Reddics.

Donnie attended Beulah Elementary and later transferred to Rosedale High School.  He started work at a young age on Greenwood Miller Farm.  He was later employed by Jimmy Sanders where he worked for several years.  He was later employed by Axel where he later retire.

Donnie memories will forever live in the hearts of all his loving and devoted family and friends.  Donnie passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the age of seventy-two.  He answered the call from his Heavenly Father, he joined his mother, Utta Mae Miller and father, Eddie Pope, two sisters, Dencie Booker and Lisa Ann Osborne; one brother, Robert Ridley and former wife Percil Pope.

Donnie leaves to cherish his memories, his faithfully and devoted wife Maxine Stancil Pope; five daughters:  Timeka (George) Ferguson of Indiana, Geshia Garner of Memphis, TN, Lakeita Pleasant and Shaquitta Williams of Rosedale, MS and Jasmine Forrest of Southaven, MS; seven sons:  Alonzo Gary Pope of Ohio, Kedrayl Shepard of Beulah, MS, Tyrone Shaw of Washington, DC, Calvin (Janice) Stancil of Ridgeland, MS, Elijah and Trevon of CA, and Uriah of Detroit; two sisters:  Bobbie Jordan of Mound Bayou, MS, Ruchelle Richardson, IL, three brothers:  Larry Pope (Thomasine) of CA, Bobby Perry of IL, and Reggie Richardson of Kansas, four aunts, two special cousins; Leanna Jones and Gloria Cooper, one special aunt; Barbara Pope of Rosedale, MS.  Donnie also leaves to cherish his memories (19) grandchildren, (7) great grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
