The Legacy of Deloris Franklin

Deloris was born to Elizabeth Reed-Murphy and Arthur Murphy on March 18, 1948.  She departed this life on June 17, 2023 in Cleveland, MS.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Franklin, Sr., her parents Elizabeth and Arthur Murphy, her siblings, Arthur Murphy, Jr., Leo Murphy, James Murphy, Sr., Eddie Ellis, Ethel Jacobs, Bertha Lee Smith, Alberta Thomas, Reola Marshall, Clara Howard, Mary Murphy, Dora Johnson, Willie B. Johnson and a special friend George King, Sr.

She was a member of Aaron Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Willie Williams where she served as an usher until her health failed.

Deloris was very compassionate with everyone she came in contact with.  Her home was everybody's home and she cooked and fed the entire family and neighborhood.  She loved her family especially her grands.  Her smile told the story... She was very dedicated to her job.  She worked for the Gourlay's for many, many years until the end.  She attended West Bolivar County Schools and was an excellent student.  She supported the education system making sure her children and grands get the best education possible.  She worked for the West Bolivar School District for many years as a janitor.

She met and married Dan Franklin, Sr. at an early age and they welcomed four beautiful children.

Deloris leaves to cherish her memories, (6) daughters, Brenda (Willie) Winfield of Ruleville, MS and Vera Franklin of Rosedale, MS, Victoria (Dennis) Boyland and Johneshia Bradley of Memphis, TN, Nicole Murphy of Southaven, MS and Crystal Bradley of Shelby, MS, (4) sons, Dan Franklin of Nantucket, MA, Henry Franklin of Dallas, TX, Tyris Murphy and Melvin Haynes of Rosedale, MS, (5) sisters, Annie Burns Murry and Beauty Bell of Pace, MS, Lillian Jean Poster of Greenville, MS, Callie Vaughn of Rosedale, MS and Vera Burns of Gunnison, MS, (2) brothers, Percy (Ethel) Murphy of Rosedale, MS and Henry Johnson of Portland, OR (3) Goddaughters, Blondie Beans, Betty Banks and Carolyn Reynolds all of Rosedale, MS; (2) Godsons, Willie Pittman and George King, Jr., (5) bonus children, Elizabeth (Luke) Heiskell, Mary-Paxton Heiskell, Lucious Heiskell, and Scott Heiskell, (3) special nieces, Cora Turner, Tamanika Turner and Pastor Elnora Littleton all of Rosedale, MS, (2) special friends, Beatrice Taylor and Shirley Rockmore both of Rosedale, MS, (18) grandchildren, (27) great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends,
