David L. Washington was born on April 23, 1958 to the late Larry L. Williams and Eveleen Williams.  He was preceded in death by his parents; three sibling; Ardell Williams, Melvin and Bobby Williams; his only son, Jawaskii Williams.

David lived a devoted life to hard work, family, community and faith.  At a very young age he publicly confessed his faith in Jesus Christ and united with Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church.  In 1996, he became a faithfully member of Riverside United Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Larry Williams, where he served diligently as an usher.  His unwavering faith and commitment to serving God and others remain evidence throughout his life.

David attended West Bolivar School.  He was a loving husband, father and devoted family man.  He dedicated more than 20 years of service to West Bolivar Consolidated School, where he faithfully served as Head Custodian.  In addition, he worked as a correctional officer at the Bolivar County Juvenile Detention Center for 17 years before retiring in 2018.  David was known for his strong work ethic, dedication and commitment to serving his community.

David took great pride in both of his jobs and was known as a loyal and dedicated employee.  Through his hard work, kindness and unwavering commitment, he made a lasting impact on his coworkers.  His dependability, strong work ethic and genuine care for others earned him the respect, admiration and friendship of everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.

David departed this life on Friday, morning, July 10, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.  Though his earthly journey has ended, his legacy of faith, love and hard work and devotion to his family will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him and loved him.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories:  His loving and devoted wife of 32 years, Daisy Mae Williams, His children, Dorothy Taylor of Biloxi, MS, Katrina Williams, Rosedale, MS, Martha (James) Green of Rosedale, MS, and Catherine (George) Waples of Delaware, OH; Six additional  children; Clevon Gray of Indiana, Vertis Taylor, Dianna Taylor, Robert (Tabitha) Taylor, Gerald (Tawana)Taylor of Rosedale, MS and Larry (Zerlyana) Taylor of Peoria. IL; His siblings:  Carolyn Williams and Ruby (Don) Hedgewood of Rosedale, MS, Larry (Mary) Williams, Jr. of Cleveland, MS, Minister Vorris (Delores) Williams of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Pastor Marvin (Felicia) Strotter, Sr. of Renova, MS; His in-laws, Georgia Williams of Rosedale, MS, Jackie Williams of Lithonia, GA, Larry (Mary) Rockmore of Rosedale, MS, John (Bernita) Rockmore and Lavelle (Sarah Ann) Rockmore of Minnesota and Eugene Herbert of Boston; His aunts, Mozella Burton, Minnie B. Maxwell, Ruth Ann Ault, Rosa Lee Woods, Carrie Grant, Ora Williams and Ruby Scott; His uncles, Will Humphries, Jr., Johnnie B. Humphries, Kendrick Roach, Earl Williams and Harold Williams; a special niece, Jacqueline Ray and special nephew; Otis Rockmore and two special friends, Mack Hosley and Odell Hicks.  He also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, niece, nephews, cousins and dear friends who will forever cherish and remember his warm, loving, dedicated and joyful spirit.
