Obituary

Curtis Lee Smith, the son of the late Mose and Rosetta Smith, was born in Mound Bayou, Mississippi on October 11, 1942. He was the youngest of ten children. At an early age, he confessed a saving faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized into the Body of Christ at Jerusalem Missionary Bapist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. A.C. Isaac. On September 15, 1964, he exchanged marriage vows with Clodie Daughrity and to this union two daughters were born. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and one sister. Smitty, as he was affectionately known, received his elementary and high school education in Mound Bayou School District. He attended Mississippi Vocational College and received a certification in barbering. He was the owner and operator of Smitty's Fast Foods and Smitty's Barbershop for more than forty years. During his later years in life, he found a passion for farming and raising fresh produce. Curtis was an active member in the Jerusalem M.B. Church. He served as Chief Usher, Deacon, and Grounds Keeper.
