Obituary

Corine (Rash) Birge was born on March 9, 1944 in Ruleville, Mississippi to the late Queen Ethel (Roy) Rash and Ledger William Rash, Sr.  She was the fourth of thirteen children.  Corine received her education in the Sunflower County Public School District and graduated from Ruleville Central High School in 1963.

At an early age, Corine accepted Christ as her personal Savior.  After relocating to Chicago, Illinois, she became a faithful member of Apostolic Faith Church under the leadership of Bishop Horace L. Smith.

In 1964. Corine met Willie Lee Birge, Jr.  They were united in holy matrimony on October 8, 1965 in Cleveland, Mississippi.  Prior to her marriage, Corine was blessed with a son, Huey Rash.  From her union with Willie, she was furthered blessed with three children: two daughters, Patricia (Birge) Pippin and Katherine (Birge) Griffin and one son, LaMario Birge.

In 1968, Corine and Willie moved from Mississippi to Chicago, Illinois, where she devoted many years as a loving housewife, nurturing and caring for her family and caring for her family.  Once her children became of age, Corine pursued work outside the home and, in 1989. began her career as a homemaker with ASI Home Health Agency.  She faithfully served in this role until her retirement in 2016.  On January 13, 2026, God called Corine home peacefully at her residence, with her loving daughters by her side.

Corine was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lee Birge, Jr.,; son, LaMario Birge; parents, Ledger William Rash, Sr. and Queen Ethel (Roy) Rash; sisters, Clotee (Rash) Smith and Adella (Rash) Norman; and brothers, Louis Rash, John Rash and Roosevelt Rash.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories; one son, Huey Rash of Chicago, Illinois; two daughters, Patricia (Darren) Pippin of Lansing, Illinois and Katherine (Jimmie III) Griffin of Cleveland, Mississippi; four grandchildren, Carlos (Jasmin) Beckles, Jr. of Lansing, Illinois, Quashae and Aleria Griffin both of Cleveland, Mississippi and Hayle N. Hardin of Chicago, Illinois; three great-grandchildren, Ava Beckles and Cori Beckles, both of Lansing, Illinois and Dontarious Malone, Jr. of Cleveland, Mississippi; three sisters, Ethel Rash of East Chicago, Indiana, Mary Rash of Chicago, Illinois, and Shirley Ann Rash of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; four brothers, Willie Rash of Renton, Washington, Ledger Rash, Jr. of Temple Hills, Maryland, Joe Rash of Chicago, Illinois and Charles Rash of Portland, Oregon; brothers-in-law, Leroy (Marjorie) Birge, Sr. and Roger Birge of Cleveland, Mississippi, L.M. Birge of Renova, Mississippi, Robert (Ethel) Birge and Ruso Birge of Jacksonville, Arkansas; sisters -in- law, Dorothy M. Morris of Cleveland, Mississippi and Betty (Leroy) Payne of Renova, Mississippi and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
