Obituary

Clyde Lamar Leggette, Sr. was the youngest of 13 children, born July 25, 1927 to the late Henry Dudley and Hattie Generals Leggette in Charleston, MO. The family eventually moved back to Mound Bayou, MS where Clyde began his educational journey at Mound Bayou Training School. He furthered his education at Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA, receiving a BS and at Jackson State University in Jackson, MS receiving a Masters in Education. During this educational journey he became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Clyde deemed it his responsibility to serve and protect his country in the United States Army, having received an honorable discharge. He confessed a hope in Christ and was baptized at Christ Temple-Church of Christ (Holiness) USA in Drew, MS in 1969 under the pastorate of the late Elder Eddie Jones, Jr. His professional experiences were extensive; having served as Teacher, Principal, Administrator and College Recruiter. Clyde leaves a long and distinguished career of active participation and dynamic leadership in religious, fraternal and educational organizations. His travels led him to Dallas, TX where he united with the Family of Faith Christian Center in Duncanville, TX, serving faithfully as a Deacon for 15 years. In February 2009, Clyde returned to Mound Bayou, MS and later became a part of the Spangle Banner MB Church family, in Pace, MS. He was a dutiful attendee of Bible Study and Worship Service.
