On the morning of April 23, 2102, 65-year old Charlene "Tiny" Jones of Cordova, TN was called into the arms of our Creator. She was born May 31, 1955, in Ruleville, MS to the late Charlie and Larvarah Jones. Even from the womb, she was a fighter. Preceded her in death: her father, Charlie Jones; brother, Roosevelt Jones; sisters; Maplean Madison, Dorothy Mitchell, Cynthia Jones, and Patricia Jones.
Charlene graduated from Ruleville Central High School in 1973 and continued her education at Coahoma Community College, where she earned an Associate Degree. Upon completion, she was employed as a secretary/ bookkeeper at the Fannie Lou Hamer Daycare. In 1976, her world was changed when she gave birth to Montreal Jones. She later joined the Ruleville Central High School staff as a facilitator. Charlene engaged crowds with her love and zeal for the Word of God by constantly serving as a Mistress of Ceremony on many occasions. In addition, she served for 20+ years as secretary/ treasurer and Sunday School teacher at the New Mount Zion Church in Ruleville, MS. When she moved to Cordova, TN, she joined the Gray's Creek Church family. Charlene enjoyed traveling with her sons.
She is survived by her sons: Montreal Jones and Dennis Grove of Cordova, TN; daughter, Lacy Jones of Cordova, TN; a mother, Larvarah Jones of Ruleville, MS; siblings: Ella Knighten of Chicago, IL; Charles Jones of Ruleville, MS; Bobbie (Alex) McKnight of Ruleville, MS; Alice Miller of Ruleville, MS; Lena (Argusta) Walker, Sr. of Freeport, IL; Betty Jones of Florence, MS; Johnny (Brenda) Jones of Jackson, MS; Jacqueline (Charles) Buckner of Ruleville, MS, one grandson, Juan Ambrocia Zeron, Jr. of Drew, MS; Godchildren: Barbara Taylor, Shanetta Johnson, Deloris Caples, Derrick Stubbs, James Haywood, Jr., and Quanichia Taylor. Treasured friendships and best friends: Ruby McWilliams, Louise Joiner, and Bernice Boone and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
