Carl Sumpter was born July 26, 1956 in Arcola, MS to Josephine Sumpter Moore and Anderson Moore.  He gave his life to Christ at an early age at Pleasant Grove M.B. Church in Shelby, MS and later he joined Mount Layton M.B. Church in Ruleville, MS then to United Rock of Ages in Shaw, MS where he remain a faithful member until his health fell.

Carl attended E.E. Bass High School in Greenville, MS.  He was a supervisor for many years at Delta Pride in Indianola.

Carl married the love of his life, Jessie Scott(Simpson) on September 21, 2001.

Carl was a humble, loving, and caring man who loved prayer and the word of God.  He donated to many charities.  He enjoyed talking on his cell phone, watching TV, fishing and he loved his grandchildren and children.  He was very excited when his last grandchild, Layla Morgan Nelson was born.

Mr. Carl Sumpter transcended into his eternal home with the almighty God on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale, MS.
