Calvin Bernard "Cal" Burns was born September 29, 1962 in Chicago, IL.  He was the fifth child and third son of nine siblings.  He experienced Salvation at the age of eight.

Calvin attended Guggenheim Elementary School in Chicago, IL.  The family moved to Mound Bayou, MS in 1972.  It was here in Mound Bayou where he attended I.T. Montgomery Elementary School and he graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1980.  Calvin went on to attend Jackson State University and obtained a B.A. in Mass Communications.

In 1988 Calvin relocated to Chicago, IL and began employment as a manager with the McDonald's Corporation in Sauk Village, IL.  In 1994 Calvin became a counselor at a facility for battered women and children, in Chicago, IL.  He relocated to Dallas, TX in 2005; from there he ventured to Ballwin, MO where he became a manager at Walmart.

Due to health issues, Calvin took an early retirement and yet continued to service others in need.  Calvin had an astonishing intellect and was profound in so many ways.  Calvin had a smile that would bring joy to a person's life.  His charming personality spoke volumes to so many individuals.

Calvin preached his first sermon in 1989 at the Trinity Church of God In Christ in Ford Heights, IL under the leadership of the late Pastor C. Nelson.  Calvin was a Sunday school teacher and was appointed Sunday School Superintendent.  He chose to live unto the Lord.  Upon his retirement Calvin relocated to Mound Bayou, MS on October 1, 2012.  Calvin returned to help his mom and the community of Mound Bayou.
