Brenda "Slick" Winfield, beloved wife, mother and friend, was a fierce and loving wife and mother with a heart of gold.
Brenda J. Winfield was born on May 7, 1962 to the late Deloris Franklin and John Hyman. She departed this life on Monday, October 14, 2024 at North Sunflower Hospital in Ruleville, MS. She is preceded in death by her parents Dan and Deloris Franklin and John Hyman. Her brother Ronald Smith and grandparents Arthur and Elizabeth Murphy.
Brenda gave her life to Christ at an early age at Bold Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in Beulah, MS under the leadership of Pastor Bobby Williams. She later moved her membership to C.A. Burke Missionary Baptist Church in Rosedale, MS where she remained a faithful member until her untimely death.
She attended Nugent Center in Benoit, MS and Rosedale High School in Rosedale, MS. She furthered her education at Coahoma Community College upon her departure from Coahoma Community College she went on to get certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked for various nursing homes and later became a home health aide where she provided exceptional care to her patients.
She loved her family and friends immensely. She always talked about her children and grandchildren. She loved them unconditionally. Brenda enjoyed planning and organizing special family events. She was a gorgeous diva. She was delighted in shopping, weekly trips to the hair and nail salon, and spending time with her grandkids. She would call daily to check on her grandkids and ask about their day.
Brenda leaves to cherish her memories with her loving and devoted husband, Willie James Winfield of Ruleville, MS. Her five children, Anthony Williams of Allentown, Pennsylvania, Kenyatee Williams of Ridgeland, Mississippi, Kendrick Williams of Nantucket, Mass, Taraneka (Dennis) Mims of Rosedale, MS, and Willie Williams of Peoria, Illinois. She also had a special niece she raised like a daughter, Jaqueese Wilson of Cleveland, MS. Five step-children, Jasmin Newman of Como, MS, Stella Harmon, Justin Harmon, La'Nisha Harmon all of Sardis, MS, Shaquille Winfield, Aaliyah Scott of Courtland, MS and Jamia Canady of Charleston, MS. Her sisters Vera Franklin of Rosedale, MS, Nicole Murphy and Victoria Upchurch both of Memphis, TN. Two brothers, Dan Franklin of Nantucket, Mass and Henry Franklin of Dallas, Texas; Her mother-in-law, Laurarine Winfield of Courtland, MS. Goddaughter, Laquisha Edwards, 24 grandchildren, 3 sisters-in-laws, 1 brother-in-law, an uncle, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
