Bonnie Jean Jackson-Holmes was born October 22, 1945, in Belzoni, Mississippi to the union of Lois Catherine Anderson-Jackson and Wilson Jackson Sr. She was baptized at Belzoni Chapel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend R. L. Chandler in 1952. She participated in the Sunday School, the Baptist Training Union and later in the choir. Bonnie learned how to play the piano (which she loved). She became an accomplished pianist and used her talent and skill to serve the Lord, playing and directing choirs in several churches here in the Greenville and Leland area.

Bonnie attended McNair Elementary and High School and graduated from Mississippi Valley State University with a bachelor's degree in English in 1974. After graduation Bonnie taught school for a few years until she discovered her passion for helping people as a social worker and property manager of several real estate firms. Her areas encom-passed Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee until she retired.

Bonnie also participated in the civil rights movement in the 60s and was involved in the Head Start Program. She fought for equality in the Mississippi Welfare Department for job opportunities in the 70s.

Bonnie's strong faith in God was evidence by how she lived her life for Jesus Christ. She trusted in Him completely and served him by witnessing to others the goodness of the Lord. Her testimony was always "My God shall supply all of my needs according to His riches and glory by Christ Jesus" and All things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose". Two verses taught to her by her mother Lois Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lois A. Jackson and Wilson Jackson Sr., her spouse Charlie Holmes, her son Marquez Ramon Holmes and four of her five siblings, Gwendolyn Jackson, Raymond "Poogie" Anderson, Willie Jackson Jr., and Douglas Jackson. She leaves behind to cherish her memories three children, Rodney Holmes (Belzoni, MS), Scott Holmes (Macon, GA), Natalia Holmes (Indiana), a sister, Carlene Hicks (Chicago, IL), five grandchildren: Viola Robinson, Fredrick Smith, Scott Holmes Jr., Shebrell (Williams) Cameron, and Shebrell's husband, James Cameron, whom she cherished like a grandson, Emmanuel Davies, nine great-grandchildren, two god children Regina Williams and Tommy Ingram both of Greenville, MS a special Pastor Frank Hall, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
