Bobbie Dupree departed her life on September 25, 2025 at the age of 72 at home with family in Southaven, MS.

Bobbie Jean Ogburn-Dupree was born on July 23, 1953 to the late Mr. Carnell and Mrs. Jennie Mae Ogburn in Boyle, Mississippi.

Bobbie's life was anchored in faith, service, and a deep love for learning. She accepted Christ at an early age at Temple Church in Ruleville, MS, and later re-dedicated her life at Apostolic Faith Church in Cleveland, MS. Her walk with God was steadfast and sincere. As a devoted member of Lighthouse Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Larry Lewis, she served faithfully as an Usher and proudly represented the Usher Board with grace and dignity.

Her commitment to education was just as strong. A proud graduate of Ruleville Central High School, Class of 1975, Bobbie pursued her passion for early childhood development with unwavering determination. She earned her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from Mississippi Delta Community College, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Mississippi Valley State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She continued her academic journey with a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Ashford University, exemplifying excellence and perseverance. Bobbie's faith and education were not just personal achievements--they were gifts she poured into others. Whether in the classroom, the church, or her community, she uplifted those around her with wisdom, compassion, and a servant's heart.

She dedicated her life to nurturing young minds and uplifting her community. Her journey began at Ruleville Central Elementary, where she worked with students from Kindergarten through Fifth Grade, touching countless lives with her warmth and dedication. Later, she served as a Special Education Paraprofessional, offering compassionate support to students with unique needs until her retirement in 2007.

Never one to sit still, she followed her lifelong dream in 2008 by founding Ms. Dupree's Busy Bees Learning Center, a non-profit daycare where she served as Owner and Director until 2019. Her center became a haven of learning, laughter, and love for children and families in her community.

Affectionately known as "BJ" also humorously known by her kids as "Lucy" for her Miss Fix it Attitude, she was a woman of many passions. She found joy in Do-It-Yourself projects, baking delicious treats, relaxing with her favorite TV shows, and tending to her rose garden. She cherished traveling with her family, especially spending time with her beloved daughters and granddaughters. Her faith was her foundation--read the Bible faithfully, witnessed to others with grace, and lived her life as a testament to love and service.

A true sports enthusiast, she never missed a Lakers game, cheering with heart and soul. Whether attending basketball games or simply enjoying quiet moments at home, she brought life and laughter wherever she went.

Bobbie was never one to sit quietly. She carried herself with pride and purpose, standing shoulder to shoulder with her mother, Jennie Mae Ogburn, Mrs. Doll Harvey, and Ms. Fannie Lou Hamer in the heart of civil rights movement. From sit-ins to marches, rallies to resistance, Bobbie did her part---fighting segregation and championing equality with unwavering courage.

As an adult, she continued that legacy through education and advocacy. In her role as an educator, Bobbie became a fierce advocate for young mothers, helping them access free housing, food assistance, and programs designed to further their education and secure employment. She believed in lifting others as she climbed, and her work open doors for countless women striving to build better lives for their families. Her voice, her presence, and her conviction helped shaped a legacy of justice and compassion that still echoes today. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she adored, and the community she served with unwavering devotion.

She's preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Carnell and Mrs. Jennie Ogburn, two sisters: Josie Jones and Vetta Powell; and four brothers Carnell Ogburn, Jr., Jasper Ogburn, Johnny Ogburn, Sr. and Ricky Ogburn, Sr.

On July 7, 1975, she married Robert James Dupree -- and from this union Jennifer Chantay Dupree and Tina Marquita Dupree were born.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Jennifer (Carl) Booker of Collierville, TN, Tina Dupree of Southaven, MS, two granddaughters Carly Booker of Collierville, TN, and Makayla Williams of Ruleville, MS, seven sisters Ivy (Arthur) Allen of Moreno Valley, CA, Sarah Ogburn, Carolyn Ogburn, Tuesday Ogburn all of Ruleville, MS, Florida (Kidd) Morgan-Bass of Cleveland, MS and Arlene (Melvin) Ogburn-Crowden of Perris, CA, two brothers Frankie (Jessie) Ogburn and Marty (Jackie) Ogburn of Ruleville, MS, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, one God-daughter, friends and the cherished community of Ruleville, Mississippi.
