Mrs. Annyce Mariah Perkins Campbell was the fourth of five children born to the late Frank Newell Perkins, Sr. and Victoria Lockett Perkins on December 24, 1924, in Mound Bayou, Mississippi.  She was the granddaughter of Cyrus S. Lockett and Mariah Stewart Lockett, two of Mound Bayou's earliest settlers.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and became a member of Bellamy Chapel and Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Churches and Azion Missionary Baptist Church, respectively.  She later became a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Mound Bayou and served as president of the Pastor's Aide Ministry under the leadership of Reverend A.A. Thompson and Reverend H.Y. Ward, Sr..  Mrs. Campbell loved God and she demonstrated her kinship with God by the love that she had for all people.  Her life was a life of service to mankind.  Her favorite song was "I Found the Answer, I Learned How to Pray."

Her early education was attained in the schools of Mound Bayou.  She received her initial training as a nurse from Dr. T.R.M. Howard and later attended Mississippi Vocational College for formal training as a licensed practical nurse.  She also attended Mississippi Valley State College and Tuskegee Institute where she completed further studies in nursing.  She was employed as a licensed practical nurse at Friendship Clinic (Sara Brown Memorial Hospital), Taborian Hospital (Mound Bayou Community Hospital), and Tufts-Delta Health Center.  She loved nursing.

On October 7, 1943, she was united in the bonds of holy matrimony with Luther Varnell Campbell.  Nine children were born to this union.  One grandchild was reared in their home.

Mrs. Campbell departed this life on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 3:56 p.m.

Those left to celebrate and cherish her memories are: 6 daughters, Emily C. Harris, Alma C. Campbell, Jackie C.(William) Lucas, Wanda C. Stringer, Monica C. Micou, Annyce C. Butler and one son, Michael R. Campbell.
